In this one-time event, the Arenas performance creators host researcher Dr. David Guedj and artist/curator Ilana Salama Ortar in opening the Arenas performance doors and the historic Arenas camp: conversation, testimonies and video screenings from the transit camp which was the inspiration for the performance and the latest stop for a millennial-old culture.
After becoming a world-renowned singer in North African music in recent years, Neta Elkayam connects her mother’s spirit with the cosmopolitan arena in a musical production by the artist Amit Hai Cohen. Together with Tal Avraham on the trumpet, they create an intimate and energetic sound, electronic beats fused with tribal sounds from the Atlas with women’s voices from transit camps and melodies of jazz, liturgical poetry and hip-hop.
